J P Nadda: BJP president JP Nadda to announce new team soon | India News

NEW DELHI: Some new faces are likely to be inducted soon in the BJP Parliamentary board, the party’s highest decision making body, in place of seniors such as vice president Venkaiah Naidu as well as Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Ananth Kumar who passed away. The names are likely to be announced soon by BJP president J P Nadda.
In an informal interaction with the media, Nadda said the the new team has been finalised and should be announced later this month.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh, transport minister Nitin Gadkari, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan, Social welfare minister Thawar Chand Gehlot and party’s general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh and Nadda are the current parliamentary board members.
While the possibility is that current members will be retained, the new entrants are most likely to be from the organisational background, who have been handling the day-to-day affairs in the party and supervising the state organisations.
There is also a possibility that some prominent faces from the states may make it to the board. Besides, it will pave the way for the expansion of the union ministry. This is also being discussed, particularly with the expectation that Jyotiraditya Scindia, who left the Congress to join BJP, may be made a central minister heading an important portfolio.
Nadda said the national office-bearers meet will be convened soon after the team is finalised. Vacancies of state heads will be filled soon as several crucial states including Gujarat, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh have no party presidents at present. In appointments in the party organisation, the BJP chief asserted that the party’s stated principle of “one man one post” will be followed, barring a few exceptions like a minister being nominated as election in-charge for a certain state.
The BJP chief scotched speculations about any factions in the party and said he was in touch with all senior leaders and the team is being reconstituted with their support and guidance.
